Five Things You Need to Know Today, Sept. 16

The Senior Center's Fall Festival is today.

Today is Friday, Sept. 16. Here are five things you need to know:

 

1) The sun returns: Looks like the clouds are going away and we’ll see sun today. According to the National Weather Service, it should be sunny and in the mid-60s today. A nice fall day, eh?

3) Fall festival: The annual begins today at 9 a.m. Several resources and vendors from the area will be available between 9 a.m. and noon to talk to seniors. A door prize drawing will be held at 12:30 p.m.

 

4) In case you missed it: The School Committee met Tuesday night to discuss several things, including the date of the Goodyear School open house for the public. Read all about the meeting here.  

 

5) Settling in a new world: On this day in 1620, the Mayflower left Plymouth, England, headed toward what is now Virginia. But due to stormy seas and a few operator errors, the boat landed in Massachusetts in November. The “Pilgrims” founded the first European settlement in America in December, 1620.
