Five Things You Need to Know Today, Sept. 28

Girl Scout sign-up tonight.

Here are five things you need to know today:

1) Cooling down: Expect temperatures to get a little cooler today, as the National Weather Service is expecting a fall-like day in the mid-60s. Drive safe, we could have areas of fog in the morning and again tonight.

3) Girl Scouts: Interested in the Girl Scouts? There will be a sign-up for girls ages 5 through 17 to join the group tonight

4) In case you missed it: A car landed in Horn Pond yesterday after a two-car crash. Yes, you read that right. A car in Horn Pond. .

5) A splendid splinter: On this day in 1941, Boston Red Sox left fielder Ted Williams became the last Major League Baseball player to hit .400 in a season. Williams finished his record-breaking season with a .406 batting average. No one since has ever hit .400. Williams played his entire career with the Red Sox, retiring in 1960.
