Five Things You Need to Know Today, Sept. 29

The Woburn Special Education Parent Advisory Council meets tonight.

Here are five things you need to know today:

 

1) Gray skies: We’ll be surrounded by clouds today, according to the National Weather Service forecast for Thursday. The NWS expects a 70 percent chance of rain and temperatures to reach the mid-70s. Clouds all day, with some fog before 11 a.m.

2) PAC meeting tonight: The Woburn Special Education Parent Advisory Council will hold its first meeting of the school year tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Topic of the night? Organization!

3) Board of Health: The city’s Board of Health will meet this evening at at 4:30 p.m. In addition to the nurse’s report and other business, the board will receive a flu clinic update.

 

4) In case you missed it: In a moving ceremony, the Woburn Police welcomed its next chief, Lt. Robert Ferullo, Tuesday night. We were there and captured Chief Ferullo’s oath and speech on video. !  

 

5) Medicine that killed: On this day in 1982, an unknown assailant tampered with Tylenol in the Chicago area, putting cyanide in bottles of the headache reliever. The cyanide-laced drugs were the cause of death for six people, including a flight attendant, a new mother and a seventh-grade girl. The killings led to new regulations for tamper-proof medicine bottles.
