The famous actor who starred in the film “Rebel Without a Cause” was driving to a car race in Salinas when he died in a head-on car crash. His passenger was ejected from the car, but recovered. The other driver suffered only minor injuries. There is a memorial to Dean near the crash site in Cholame, California.
