2) New face at Joyce

When kids walk into the today, they'll meet their new assistant principal—Taylor Wrye. The last name is pronounced "rye" (like the bread!) 

 

3) Lose the rain, keep the heat

According to the National Weather Service, we'll see some fog this morning, but it should be a clear day for the most part. The NWS is forecasting a partly sunny day with temperatures in the 80s. We'll even get a nice, calm breeze in the afternoon.

 

4) In case you missed it

The announced what charities would benefit from the eatery's proceeds. Many of the charities are right here in Woburn.

 

5) Thoreau leaves the woods

On this day in 1847, Henry David Thoreau leaves the woods and moves in with the Emersons in Concord. Thoreau is most known for his series of essays called Walden (or Life in the Woods), which he wrote while living in a shack in the woods for two years. In addition to Walden, Thoreau wrote several transcendentalist essays, as well as Civil Disobedience, a piece based on his time in jail for refusing to pay taxes. Thoreau died in 1862.
