Flood Watch In Effect Today Due to Rain Forecast, Mild Temperatures

Heavy rain falling Sunday night into Monday, combined with unseasonably warm temperatures, means snow could rapidly melt.

Woburn and the rest of the Massachusetts is under a flood watch through Monday morning as heavy rains are expected to move into the area tonight.

Combined with the unseasonably mild temperatures approaching 60 degrees today, the National Weather Service (NWS) issued the flood warning earlier today, warning that snow could rapidly melt, with sharp rises on area rivers and streams through Monday.

"Urban and poor drainage flooding is likely, along with flooding on some rivers and streams," the NWS said. Eastern Massachusetts should see 1 to 1.5 inches of rain; the western part of the state is expected to bear the brunt of the storm, with 2 to 3 inches of rain falling.
