Work on the sites for Wegmans and the Kings bowling alley are progressing as construction has re-started this spring.

Fire Damages Recreation Building At Elderly Housing Development

Fire Department officials are investigating the cause of a mid-afternoon fire that caused significant damage to two rooms in the recreation room at the Carnation Drive elderly housing development.

According to Deputy Fire Chief Al Vassas, the fire broke out in the brick and wood structure at around 2 p.m. It started in a back room, used as a workshop, said Vassas.

Police Apprehend Suspect in Connection with Recent Spike in Home Break-Ins

Police believe the suspect, Azad Terzian, of Watertown, and his accomplices played a "major role" in the recent rash of residential burglaries throughout the region, according to Arlington Police Chief Frederick Ryan.

 

Melrose 

When Will Melrose's Golf Courses Open This Spring? 

With several snowstorms hitting the city this winter, Melrose golf courses are opening about a month later than last year. With temperatures rising and conditions at the course looking good, Mount Hood Golf Courseopened on Wednesday, according to Joan Bell, superintendent of Mount Hood and Public Open Space. Meanwhile, Bellevue Golf Club, a private nine-hole golf course, is expected to open at 8 a.m. Saturday, according to Manager Jeff Monteleone.
