NWS: Severe Thunderstorms Heading Towards Woburn

The National Weather Service is tracking strong storms heading towards the area and is advising people to get inside.

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement in advance of some strong thunderstorms likely to hit the Woburn area.

The statement says a line of strong thunderstorms capable of producing wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour and penny-sized hail extended from Danvers to Billerica is likely to move into the area around 3:45 p.m. today.

"Heavy rain may cause minor street flooding and ponding of water in low lying areas such as underpasses," the statement reads. "Do not drive through flooded roads."
