Irene swept through town yesterday. Here are the highlights.

Although Woburn wasn't one of the hardest hit communities, Hurricane Irene definitely

and were out all day, responding to residents' reports of downed wires, trees and limbs, as well as debris blocking roads. Some officers were detained at downed wire calls for long periods of time, as NStar crews were contacted and responded to the scene.

Woburn Police officers on the day shift were held over into the evening "B" shift, to continue covering all of the incidents.

The responded to incidents all over the city Sunday, sometimes taking care of downed wires before NStar could respond. Although the reports were many, DPW Superintendent Tucker Quinn reported no major incidents on Sunday. 

While some parts of Woburn were without power Sunday, others lost cable service only.
