Siamese-Mix Siblings Look For A Home

Heather and Toby are looking for a new home in 2012.

The New Year is a time for resolutions and Heather and her brother, Toby, have put finding a new, forever home at the top of their list. When they nap together in the afternoon, they have visions of a new family dancing in their heads. At adoption events, their eyes are wide, sizing up potential adopters. Would you consider a pair of warm and loving cats to start off your New Year on the right track?

Heather is a grey and white Siamese-mix who is super affectionate. She loves to be petted or to snuggle next to you on the couch. She also enjoys her “me- time” and has staked out her favorite spots for napping. These include a cozy nook in the kitchen and her cat bed next to the warm radiator. Heather is very relaxed and sweet, but she also appreciates the occasional catnip treat as well as a good meal. If you forget to feed her, she will let you know it is mealtime. Heather may comment on your cooking, but she will never criticize your house cleaning habits because she does not like mops or brooms.  She won’t growl, but she will hide at the sight of the mop.

Since returning to PAWS, Heather has had some much needed major dental work and treatment for an infection, probably caused by her diseased teeth. Now, she is feeling much better and is in great health. Heather gets along well with other laid-back kitties so she could be a wonderful companion to other cats in your home. Of course, her first wish would be to go to a home with her brother, Toby. These two have been together since birth; they make a beautifully-matched and settled pair.

Toby is the more gregarious of this bonded pair. With almost identical markings, Toby is the black and white version of Heather. He is an outgoing boy who adores human company—even strangers. He loves everyone. If you are home, he will probably want to follow you around all day. Although not generally very chatty, he will use his voice to remind you he would like some attention.

When humans are not available, Toby delights in the company of his sister.  Like Heather, Toby also came back to PAWS with some treatable conditions. With those resolved, Toby is ready for a new home. He is a relaxed, happy, and easy-going cat who loves his meals, his catnip, and just about every cat and human he has met. Toby is a boy who could easily fit into a home with other laid-back cats, although he would especially love being adopted with his sister.

Heather and Toby are two of six offspring born to a young cat named Faith, rescued by PAWS from the streets of Revere in 2002. Adopted together as kittens, they recently were returned to PAWS when a new family member developed severe cat allergies. While returning an adopted pet after nine years is not a typical story, it does happen and PAWS is committed to the long-term welfare of every animal that goes through our system. With the current financial downturn, we have experienced too many stories like Heather’s and Toby’s.  Our New Year’s resolution this year, and every year, is to continue to offer the best possible care to every PAWS pet.

Of course, PAWS cannot continue this work without your support. When you adopt wonderful older cats like Toby and Heather, you are supporting PAWS.  When you donate your time as a foster, in our office, or in various other capacities, you are also helping PAWS and our animals. Finally and just as important, when you donate to our fund for cats like Heather and Toby, you help the organization continue offering the best of care to the neediest of animals in 2012. Please put us on your list of New Year’s Resolutions.

Happy New Year from all the animals and volunteers at PAWS.
