Snow ... It's Not Over Yet, Woburn

Some forecasters are predicting up to eight inches will fall in areas west of Boston Monday night into Tuesday.

Spring begins Wednesday, but Old Man Winter wants to get in one more whack before winter goes away. Forecasters predict as much as 8 inches of snow could fall in the Woburn area tonight into Tuesday.

Nevertheless, the rain/snow line falls just west of Boston, meaning Woburn could see a mix of rain and snow.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Woburn area beginning at 9 p.m. Monday and lasting through 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Look out for heavy snow and ice, and between 4 and 8 inches of snow, according the NWS warning.

Snow will likely make Tuesday morning's commute a difficult one, the NWS warns.

WHDH Channel 7 meteorologist Jeremy Reiner predicts that snow will begin falling between 11 p.m. Monday and 1 a.m. Tuesday. Channel 7's forecast calls for between 4 and 8 inches of snowfall just west of Boston and 2 to 4 inches in the immediate Boston area.

The line between the 2-4 inches area and the 4-8 inches area on Channel 7's weather map runs has Woburn just inside the higher-snowfall area.

While the snow will blow out of the area in the next day or so, we won't get much relief from winter, according to Reiner.

"Blocking area of high pressure up in north central Canada keeps us in winter mode here in the Northeast for the rest of the week with daytime temps only in the 30s and overnight lows in the teens/20s," Reiner writes in his blog.
