This Week: African Games and Scrabble

Take a peek at some of the events in Woburn this week, July 25-29.

Each week Patch will highlight a smattering of the upcoming events in Woburn; Welcome to the Week Ahead.

  • On Monday, at the  3:30pm–4:30pm let your kids try out the  Students entering grades 4 through 8 play in pairs according to School Scrabble rules, and may also practice timed bouts, to get ready for bigger tournaments. Games range from fast and furious mini-challenges to full games. Drop-ins are welcome to try their skills, but be on time because teams are assigned at 3:30 p.m.
  • On Tuesday, have a few pints and check out . He is set to perform at the , starting at 6:00pm. 
  • Get up early on Wednesday and arrive at the Burlington Mall by 7:00am for . Every morning the doors by the Legal Seafoods Entrance are opened to allow you to walk the mall. Each time around is 0.8 Miles, so it's a great way to exercise rain or shine, hot or cold.
  • On Thursday at the , from 10:00am–11:00am take your family to the program. Learn how to play Mancala, Catch Your Tail, and Boa Constrictor outside; all games will be rescheduled in the event of bad weather. This program is part of the Summer Reading Program and is sponsored by the Friends of the Woburn Public Library.
  • On Friday, the birds are back at Stone Zoo. Be sure to catch  which features 16 different bird species from around the world, including the Egyptian vulture, American kestrel, king vulture, barn owl and white-bellied stork, in this engaging, memorable and educational experience for visitors of all ages. Daily show times are 11 AM, 1 PM and 3 PM until September 5, 2011
