The U.S. Post Office on Abbott Street is on the National Register of Historical Places because of its architecture and engineering. The architect, James Knox Taylor et al., designed the Classical Revival building, which is considered historically significant for the 1900-1924 period. The building was added to the register in 1987.

In other wind-swept incidents, police and DPW also responded to reports of fallen trees on Abbott Court and Merrimac Street. Tree limbs were reported falling over the city, and one car on Pinto Road was damaged earlier by a fallen tree.
