Whiz Kid of the Week: John Ryan

Woburn Patch selects John Ryan as the Whiz Kid of the Week.

Each week, Woburn Patch will select a . This week, we chose John Ryan, a 18-year-old student at Woburn Memorial High School. John is a tremendous student and one of our favorite Twitter followers!

  • John is an exceptional student in his senior year at Woburn Memorial High School, who is an accomplished service group member and film student. 
  • John's "Key to Awesomeness" is that he is an integral member of the . John is a member of the Junior Staff and also serves as Vice President of the Intrepid Keystone Club.  He recently traveled to Orlando, FL to take part in the National Keystone Conference with teens and advisors from around the world.  John is very interested in film and media studies, and has been trained at and volunteered with the .  In 2009, he was chosen from thousands of applicants to take part in the prestigious Fresh Films teen filmmaking competition in New York City.  John is also a Junior Rotarian with the Woburn Rotary Club and has taken part in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards for two years.  Although he has accomplished so much, John has a very humble attitude and is a joy to be around.  He is respected by his peers and younger kids look up to him affectionately as their role model.  Next year, John will study at either Boston University or Quinnipiac University, where we now his strong work ethic, willingness to help others, and awesome sense of humor will allow him to succeed! And we at Woburn Patch think so too! We are happy to highlight John as this week's Whiz Kid.
