Whiz Kid of the Week: Kelsey Doherty

Woburn Patch selects Kelsey Doherty as the Whiz Kid of the Week.

Each week, Woburn Patch will select a . This week, we chose Kelsey Doherty, a 9-year-old student at Linscott-Rumford School. Doherty is a fantastic student-athlete.

  • Kelsey Doherty, 9
  • Kelsey plays several sports and is working on earning perfect attendance at school this year.
  • Kelsey's "Key to Awesomeness" is that she is always trying to do her best and put her best foot forward, said mom, Wendy Doherty. Kelsey is an A-student and is working on earning perfect attendance. She plays three sports in Woburn, including spring and fall soccer (Woburn Youth Soccer), softball (Woburn Little League) and Biddy League basketball at the of Woburn. In addition to athletic and scholarly achievements, Kelsey has also had her artwork shown at the Boys & Girls Club. "She is a tremendous helper at home to her dad and I," said her mom. "She helps by cleaning her and her little sister's room. She will help clean the kitchen after dinner, helps with the laundry, helps dress and do her four-year-old sister's hair in the mornings when I am getting ready for work, and loves to "surprise" us by cleaning without even being asked! Can't ask for more than that!" We agree! Way to go, Kelsey!
