Whiz Kid of the Week: Rebecca Donahue

Each week, Woburn Patch will select a . This week, we chose Rebecca Donahue, a 12-year-old student at Kennedy Middle School. Donahue is an honors student, an active participant in the Boys & Girls Club, and the president of the Tanners Torch Club.

  • Rebecca Donahue is the president of the Tanners Torch Club—a group of middle school students who focus on leadership and service learning activities—at the .
  • Rebecca "Key to Awesomeness" is that she is an honors student at the Kennedy school, a great athlete, and genuinely enjoys helping others, said Julie Gage and Megan Gambale of the Boys & Girls Club.  Gage and Gambale describe Rebecca as "friendly, enthusiastic, and driven, and [someone who] uses her great personality to motivate those around her." Rebecca recently represented the Boys & Girls Club of Woburn at Project 351—a day of service with Gov. Deval Patrick and hundreds of middle school students from across the commonwealth.  Rebecca is also a dedicated participant in the Science of Sports program with the Boys & Girls Club of Woburn, Raytheon, and the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation.  "Whether it is homework, basketball practice, or helping younger campers as a counselor-in-training, she always puts her best foot forward and gives 100-percent effort," said Gage  and Gambale. "We are so proud of Rebecca’s accomplishments, her willingness to serve, and most importantly her positive attitude!"
