Whiz Kid of the Week: Stephanie Ortiz

Woburn Patch selects Stephanie Ortiz as the Whiz Kid of the Week.

Each week, Woburn Patch will select a . This week, we chose Stephanie Ortiz, a 18-year-old student at Woburn Memorial High School. Stephanie is a financial wizard and scholarship winner!

  • Stephanie Ortiz, 18
  • Stephanie is a friendly, responsible, and smart young woman who has earned the Charles Schwab Foundation’s Money Matters Scholarship.
  • Stephanie's "Key to Awesomeness" is that she is a young woman who isn't afraid to work! Friendly, responsible, and intelligent, she serves as president of the Intrepid Keystone Club at the of Woburn where she is also a member of the Junior Staff.  Recently, Stephanie was one of five youths chosen from across the country to receive a scholarship from the Charles Schwab Foundation because of her participation in Money Matters—a financial literacy program for teens at the Boys & Girls Club.  As a result of winning this prestigious award, she will receive $2,500 toward her college education and the Boys & Girls Club of Woburn will also receive $2,500.  In addition, last week, Stephanie and the other Money Matters ambassadors from Boys & Girls Clubs across the country had the chance of a lifetime to visit the New York Stock Exchange where they were part of a virtual field trip that was streamed live into thousands of classrooms.  In the fall, Stephanie will enroll at Southern New Hampshire University where we know she will be successful because of her hard work, positive attitude, and willingness to help others! And we at Woburn Patch think so too! We are happy to highlight Stephanie as this week's Whiz Kid.
