Wind Advisory Extended Later into Sunday

The National Weather Service wind advisory is in effect until 5 a.m.

The National Weather Service has extended the  for the Woburn area until 5  a.m. Sunday morning.

According to the advisory, strong northwest winds will continue throughout the night. Wind speeds will be between 25 to 35 miles per hour overnight with gusts possibly reaching 50 miles per hour.

The wind has caused , most notably to the historic on Abbott Street. The building's roof blew off early Saturday morning and forced to block off the road.

Also, downed trees on Abbott Court and Merrimac Street were reported, as was a car damaged by a fallen tree on Pinto Street.  

The NWS says to expect the strongest winds to occur late Saturday through just after midnight and begin to slacken toward morning.

During this time, the advisory states, "strong winds will be capable of downing small tree limbs and branches, possibly causing isolated power outages."

Loose objects, including construction material may also be blown around, NWS states. Also, driving may be difficult, especially for vehicles with high profiles.
