Woburn Resident's Holiday Design for Cancer Institute Will Support Care, Research

Dave Olsen designed a holiday card and ornament to help the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute raise money.

Sports illustrator and Woburn resident Dave Olsen has contributed a design to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's holiday card, ornament and candle collection whose sale will support research and care, according to a press release from the institute.

Olsen, whose cartoons and illustrations have won awards from the New England Press Association, designed a snowy scene at the Gillette Stadium that depicts "die-hard fans weathering the storm to cheer on their favorite team," according to the release.

The inside of the card reads "Celebrate the Season." A pack of 20 cards and 21 envelopes costs $20 and are for sale at www.JimmyFundHoliday.org. The design also appears on the collection's ornaments, which cost $20 each.

Olsen has lost family and friends to cancer, including his wife and his foot-ball-loving friend Thomas O’Hehir, to whom he dedicated the design.

Area retailers offering Dana-Farber’s holiday products include Stop & Shop, The Paper Store, Circle Furniture, The Crafty Yankee, Shubie’s, Cooper Jewelers and the Friends’ Corner Gift Shop at Dana-Farber, according to the release.
