The summer has flown by, and the staff at the Woburn Public Library hope you have enjoyed some of the fine books, audio books, e-books, magazines and DVDs that are available here.

Congratulations to all participants who have completed the Summer Reading Program at the Woburn Public Library. Participants were rewarded with the annual End of the Summer Reading Program party on Thursday, August 16, 2012.  The over 120 children who completed the program received a certificate, a book bag filled with goodies, and a free book. Light refreshments were served, and Rainforest Café dished out ice cream sundaes. Cha Cha the tree frog was also in attendance to the delight of many children.

If you have signed up for the program and have not had your tracker sheet stamped; the last day to receive stamps and museum passes is Friday August 31, 2012. Latecomers will still get a certificate, book bag and a free book.

The Children’s Room is especially busy during the summer months. Thankfully, our teen
volunteers are ready to lend a hand. Our 9 teen volunteers logged a total of 281 hours this summer.  Our volunteers shelved mountains of books; helped label, stamp and cover new materials; and assisted in setting up craft programs.  Thank you for all your help this summer Sammruddhi, Michael, Kevin, Mikayla, Gemma, Stephanie, Max, Ray, and Vandit!

“Thank You” to the Friends of the Woburn Public Library. Without their support, we would not be able to provide the many programs you have enjoyed this summer.  We would also like to thank our local vendors who donated the many treats that we were able to share with the SRP participants.   They include: Applebee’s, Bertucci’s, MacDonald’s, Papa Gino’s, Rainforest Café, Roache Bros., Salon 345 and Uno’s,

The Woburn Public Library summer reading programs are sponsored by the Boston Bruins, the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, the Massachusetts Library System, and the Woburn Public Library.
