What You Need to Know About Woburn's 2013 Turkey Bowl

Woburn takes on Winchester on Thursday at 10 a.m.

The Woburn High School football team may not be heading to the Super Bowl this year. But the Tanners can still go out on a high note. Here are five things you need to know to get ready for this year's Thanksgiving Day game against Winchester.

1. Who, What, When and Where: This year's Turkey Bowl is set for Thursday at 10:15 a.m. as Woburn High School will travel to Winchester to take on the Sachems. Woburn's official season came to an end with a loss to Melrose in the Northwest Division 3 championship game, but the team still has bragging rights on the line on Thanksgiving.

2. When We Last Met: These two teams played a memorable game on Friday, Sept. 27, when the Tanners held on for a 27-21 victory in the third game of the regular season. In that game, the Sachems drove down to the Woburn goal line, but fumbled the ball as time expired.

3. Parking for the Game: If you're heading to Winchester for the game, do not put Winchester High School in as your GPS's final destination as there is no football field at the school. Instead, add 100 Mystic Valley Parkway to your navigator. That's where Knowlton Stadium is located.

4. Scouting the Sachems: It was a struggle this year for Winchester, which won its opener, 7-6 over Wilmington, before losing five straight games. The team then beat Belmont, 19-7, on October 26, but have now lost their last three games leading up to Thanksgiving.

5. Patch Coverage: Patch will be on the sideline taking photos of the game, the crowd, and everything happening on Thanksgiving morning. So be sure to check back in case you aren't able to take in the scene yourself.
