SHEAR MADNESS Actors Share the Stage Again in Stoneham Theatre's SEMINAR

Christopher Tarjan and Jordan Ahnquist are sharing the stage in Stoneham Theatre’s Season 14 opener, SeminarSeminar, written by Theresa Rebeck, the creator of the TV show Smash, tells the story of four young writers who hire a world-famous novelist (Tarjan) to teach a seminar.  Seminar does not mark the first time Tarjan and Ahnquist have worked together, however.

“I first worked with Jordan at Milwaukee Repertory Company,” Tarjan shared.  “I was doing a show, and Jordan was in the intern program.”  Tarjan later spotted Ahnquist in the audience of the Chicago production of Shear Madness and thought he would be good for the role of the nerdy police officer.  “Fast forward 5 years…I get the job to direct Shear Madness in Boston and Jordan is playing the gay hair salon owner, a more challenging role,” Tarjan added.  “He had grown miles as an actor and performer.”

Ahnquist, who plays Tarjan’s writing student in Seminar, says that working with Tarjan again is a gift.  “The comfort level and trust is already established,” Ahnquist explained, “so it’s easier to jump in the deep end and put the work first.”  Tarjan agrees.  “There is a shorthand and a trust we have developed over many, many nights on stage together that only helps our relationship in Seminar, and ultimately the entire production.”
