The following is an excerpt from the Woburn Police Department log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account.

On Sunday, Sept. 8, around 6:30 p.m. an officer was called to Center Street where threats were reported. Upon arrival, the officer located a man walking in the street who appeared to be agitated. When the officer stepped out of his car, the man began yelling and screaming about an incident during which he said he was threatened.

The caller said that a man was at a house party on the corner of Franklin and Center Streets and had threatened him. According to the caller, he was driving past a man in a New England Patriots jersey and said “Hey Aaron Hernandez, they let you out of jail?” The caller then said the man responded by threatening to beat him up in front of his child and threw a beer can at his vehicle as he drove away. According to the reporting party, the other man allegedly then walked down the street and attempted to fight him.

According to the responding officer, during the entire conversation describing the incident, the reporting man was “extremely loud, excited and agitated.” As the man continued to yell and scream, the officer called for back up.

Police spoke to the second involved man, who said he was speaking to a woman in a vehicle when the caller came around the corner in his own car. According to the second man, the driver then beeped his horn to have the vehicle move out of the way. The second man said the calling resident yelled “Hey Aaron Hernandez, when did they let you out of jail?,” similarly to what the caller told police.

The man said he laughed at the comment, but the other man then continued to yell at him. He then alleged pulled his car up the street, raised his middle finger out the window and drove down the street.

While speaking to the back up officers, the reporting man made vague statements that something may happen after police left the area. After speaking to him again, the officer told the calling party that if his behavior continued, he would be placed under arrest for disturbing the peace.
