Baby Delivered on Washington Street Thanks to Woburn Firefighters
According to multiple reports, Woburn firefighters were transporting a woman to the hospital but the baby arrived before they had the chance to get out of town.
Members of the Woburn Fire Department were en route to Winchester Hospital with a mother who would be giving birth when she arrived. There was just one problem - the baby boy didn't want to wait until the ambulance left Woburn.
According to WHDH.com, firefighters were forced to pull over on Washington Street to deliver a healthy baby boy on Sunday afternoon after they determined they didn't have time to complete the trip to the hospital.
The crew on board guided the mother through labor, delivered the baby, and finished transporting the pair to the hospital, according to the report.
"It's something we don't get to do often, but it's pretty rewarding," said firefighter Mark Smith, according to WHDH.com.
