Featured Incident

On Wednesday, Nov. 27, an officer was monitoring traffic near CVS when a car pulled up next to him. The operator said he thought he just saw a man, who might be on drugs, screaming at a bus driver.

The officer drove down Main Street and saw the bus on the side of the road with his emergency "call the police" signal flashing.

When the officer approached the bus, he saw a black man screaming. He asked the party to calm down several times but he kept screaming profanities at the driver.

For the officer's safety, he patted the man down but did not find any weapons. A second officer arrived and police were able to calm the man down so he could tell his side of the story.

The man said he wanted to get off at the Trade Center, but the bus driver never stopped to let him off. He said the other passengers were yelling at the bus driver to stop, and he got up and yelled at the driver to stop as well. The man claims the bus driver told him to "Shut the (expletive) up." At that point, the man said he felt disrespected in front of his daughter, who he was bringing to daycare.

Police also spoke to the bus driver, who said he drove into the Trade Center and no one hit the button to let him know they wanted to get off the bus. He began to drive away and the man started "flipping out."

The bus driver said he was never assaulted, but he felt threatened and does not feel safe with the man on the bus. Police informed the driver to file a report with the MBTA Police and seek a no trespass order against the man.
