Five Police Incidents That Had Woburn Talking

These five stories and  entries had people talking on our Facebook page and readers clicking links this week.

Aug. 25 – At 1:04 p.m., police responded to a Cambridge Road resident who reported his apartment was broken into overnight. According to police, nothing was missing from the apartment, but several beer cans, beer bottles and red plastic cups were found inside. Police also found a backpack with a Winchester man’s paystubs inside. The man told police he just wanted the apartment cleaned up and did not want to press charges. Police spoke to the Winchester man, who admitted to being in the apartment and agreed to clean up the mess. 

Aug. 26 – At 12:10 p.m., a Woburn woman reported several incidents of vandalism at her Russell Street home. According to police, the woman said that McDonald’s hamburgers were thrown at her home.

Aug. 27 – A 40-year-old Salem Street man is at Lahey Clinic this morning after being.

Aug. 27 – At 3:23 p.m., police responded to a report of harassment on Salem Street. According to police, a woman told the responding officer that a neighbor left a dead raccoon on her property overnight. The officer reported the raccoon was “in such a state of decomposition that it appeared to have died in that spot and was not placed there.” The animal control officer also responded to the scene and reported that the animal had likely been there for days, said police.

Aug. 28 – At 10:07 p.m., Amanda B. Gillis, 31, of 11 Karen Road, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence of liquor (second offense) and leaving the scene of property damage (two counts). According to police, an officer on routine traffic patrol approached Eaton Avenue and saw two cars parked and two people flagging down the officer. Police reported a man and a woman told them the driver of the other car crossed the double yellow line and struck their car, although they swerved to avoid a collision. They followed the other car, driven by Gillis, as she left the area, striking a parked car, before both cars pulled over. Police spoke to Gillis at the scene, who reportedly struggled to get out of her car, and then failed field sobriety tests.
