Robbers Leave Trail of Evidence For Police

Jan. 7—Police are investigating the Saturday night robbery of a Main Street convenience store in which the suspects left a trail of evidence.

POLICE LOG: "Kidnappers" Demand Ransom

Jan. 6—At 9:59 a.m., police received a report of an unknown caller asking a Woburn woman for money. According to police, the woman received a call saying her boyfriend had been kidnapped. She was to get ransom money and await further instructions. Police located the woman’s boyfriend, who was at work in Tewksbury and was safe. While police were speaking to the woman, the “kidnappers” called again. The police officer picked up the phone; the caller asked for the woman and then hung up. Police noted the number of the caller.

POLICE LOG: Missing Teen Found After Beating

Jan. 7—At 5:48 p.m., a 17-year-old Webster Ave. woman was arrested and charged with assault and battery and malicious destruction of property over $250. According to police, officers were called to Pearl Street for a fight between teenagers. When police arrived, an officer found three young women on the sidewalk. One girl was crying and had a ripped shirt, said police. The victim told the officer she had been “jumped” and the Webster Ave. teen hit her repeatedly and broke her phone. Police reported that some people left their homes when they heard the commotion and yelled at the girls to stop fighting. The 17-year-old fled the scene at that time in a vehicle, said police. She was located at a North Maple Street home and was taken into custody. Police learned that the Webster Ave. teen was listed as a missing person by her mother, who was notified and informed of the teen’s situation.

POLICE LOG: Elderly Driver Hits Bank Building

Jan. 8—At 9:27 a.m., police responded to a reported robbery at Walgreens on Main Street. According to police, when officers arrived, they learned that a woman reportedly fled the store after not paying for two bottles of shampoo. Police spoke to an employee who reported seeing the woman holding two bottles of John Frieda Serum valued at $10 each. When the employee saw the woman again, the bottles were not visible. Using video surveillance, police were able to track down the woman, who told police she had been looking at the shampoo but had left it in the store and did not take it. Police advised the store to obtain a no-trespass order if they chose.

POLICE LOG: Adults Argue Over Cleaning House

Jan. 9—At 7:55 p.m., police were dispatched to East Dexter Avenue for a report of a disturbance. According to police, a parent argued with a 21-year-old child regarding cleaning the house. At one point, a beer was thrown, said police. The 21-year-old left the residence.
