Gas Can with Gasoline, Kerosine and Possible Wick Found Behind Starbucks

The following is an excerpt from the Woburn Police Department log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

August 21-

At 4:20 a.m. police responded to the Starbucks at 99 Commerce Way on a report of a suspicious item.

Police were shown a yellow 5-gallon gas tank filled approximately ¾ of the way with liquid. There was also a piece of red rope hanging out from the area of the tank where one would pour out the gas.

Police dispatched backup due to the nature of the item. A member of the State Police Bomb Squad also responded.

Police tested the liquid and confirmed it was a mixture of gasoline and kerosene.

A Starbucks employee said the container was not at the dumpster around noon the previous day when he was last out there.

Woburn DPW removed the gas can for disposal.
