Liquor Store Customer Possibly Seeking Entry Steals Employee's Keys

On Thursday, Oct. 10, police were called to Colonial Package Store in the Musto’s Plaza to see an employee about a theft that occurred the previous day.

The employee said that at about 6:05 p.m., the man was getting some things behind the service counter. At the same time, he was making small talk with the customer, who was new to the store and has been coming in for about a month.

While the employee was doing things behind the counter, he placed his personal keys on top of the counter. Surveillance video shows that while the customer, he looks at the keys several times, then grabs them and leaves.

The employee hadn’t called the police the previous night because he thought he had misplaced the keys until he watched the video. Police believed the man grab the keys hoping to gain access to the store, but the employee said he only has a “closing key” which is used to lock up, but not get into the store.
