At Horn Pond, 2014 got off to a great start for a swan stuck in the ice thanks to a group of Woburn firefighters.

Woburn resident Roberto Souza passed along these photos from earlier this month, during which firefighters are seen carrying the bird away from the pond and to safety.

According to Souza, the swan was rescued on January 1 after the Woburn Fire Department was called to the bird in distress.

I saw this on the Channel 5 evening news the night it happened and then could not find anything at all about it! Glad to see the follow up and that the swan appears to be okay.

Sorry for the delay on tracking this down. I was happy Roberto was able to provide photos this week so I could pass them along!
