Man Accused of Stealing $46,000 While Working for Plumbing Company

On Monday, Jan. 13, a man came into the lobby to report larceny.
Police met with the man, who is the owner of a plumbing and heating company. He believes that one of his ex-employees stole a large sum of money from the business.
The man said that on October 31, 2013, he fired an employee of 10 years. The company owner said the employee ran day-to-day operations, all the hiring and firing of the company.
On the day of the firing, the owner said there were a few invoices of jobs left on his desk, so they sent them out. Not long after that, he received calls from his customers who said they had already paid the former employee in cash for the jobs.
The business owner said he believes that since March 2010 when the ex-employee was renovating his house in when the man began taking from the company totaling around $46,000.
After asking several current employees if they believed the ex-employee could be behind this, multiple workers told the owner of other jobs he should look into because they believe the man took cash from customers there as well.
The company owner believes the ex-employee may have been looking to start his own business and stole the money for that reason.
