Man Arrested in Tewksbury is Suspect in Recent Woburn Bank Robbery

Written by Matt Schooley and Rich Hosford

As reported on Woburn Patch, the TD Bank on Montvale Avenue was robbed on Sunday, July 14 by a sole white male who showed a teller a note. No weapon was shown during the robbery.

Shortly after that robbery Tewksbury police arrested a man suspected of an armed robbery at a Shell station in that town.

Tewksbury Police said in a press release that they arrested Frank Pendergast, 45, of 4 Elderberry Road Apt. 103, Reading, and charged him with armed robbery and armed assault with intent to rob.

Police suspect Pendergast of a string of robberies in the days before his arrest. The Lowell Sun reported that the among those robberies is the TD Bank robbery in Woburn. The suspect is being held on a $60,000 cash bail.

Last Tuesday, police said they followed Pendergast to a residence on Pinecrest Road in North Reading. It was there he was taken into custody by North Reading Police, Tewksbury Police, and members of the FBI Bank Robbery Task Force.

A second suspect, Patrick McNally, 51, of Tewksbury, is being held on a $10,000 bail on allegations he was "the brains" behind the gas station robbery. It is unclear if McNally is also suspected of being the impetus of the Woburn bank robbery.
