Man Flees Bank When Confronted About Bank Withdrawals

An excerpt from the WPD police log. The following arrest information was supplied by the Woburn Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

The following is an excerpt from the Woburn Police Department log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account.

Featured Incident

Calling from Citizens Bank, an employee reported fraud after a man was at the counter attempting to use an account without authorization.

The employee said the man had been in the bank three times in the last two days making withdrawals. The employee was holding on to the man's driver's license as she spoke to police.

According to the employee, the teller was delaying the man at the counter until officers could arrive on scene. When the man, a Reading resident, saw the reporting employee on the phone, he ran out of the bank.

When police arrived, they were told the man had made $680 worth of withdrawals from a business account. The activity was reported to the bank by a woman when she noticed it was missing.

Officers determined that the woman whose account had the money stolen from had the same address as the man who had run out of the bank.

Police went to Reading and spoke to the woman and asked if the man was home. She said he was out, and police then told her that he was the person who had taken the money out of her account.

The woman said she didn't know it was him who had done it, and she did not want to press any charges.
