Featured Incident

On Wednesday, Jan. 22, at about 7:50 p.m. police were called to Church Ave. to take a report of a stolen watch.

Upon arrival, police spoke to a man who said his Rolex with a silver band, black face and gold trim had been stolen.

The man said he had picked up the watch and planned to sell it to a Stoneham jewelry store. They had quoted him a price of about $2,500.

According to the caller, he had put the watch in his lock box the previous day and locked it. This morning when he went to get the watch and bring it to sell the jewelry, he noticed it was missing.

Three of the man's roommates were the only people who knew where the watch was, he said.

While police were speaking to the man, one of the roommates came running into the room and had an outburst about feeling like a suspect. Police told her she had no reason to feel that way and added that she hadn't even been spoken to yet.

After speaking with all three roommates, each said they at no point touched the watch or the box and they had not seen anyone else in the apartment.

Police fingerprinted the lock box and were able to lift several prints. Police told the man they will be on the lookout for the watch and let him know if anything is reported.
