On Thursday, Sept. 26, at about 9:15 a.m. a resident came to the lobby to report breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, and said he wanted to report a debit card, prescription medication and change taken from the vehicle.
The man told the officer he parked his van in the handicap spot at the corner of Abbott Street and Federal Street the previous night at about 6:15 p.m. and left the area around 10 p.m.
Sometime after that he realized his prescription medication and TD Bank card had been taken from the vehicle. The caravan’s side door doesn’t have a lock and he believes that someone could have gotten into the vehicle that way.
After speaking with the man’s bank and securing a new debit card, the resident was informed that two successful purchases were made with the card between 8:07 p.m. and 8:20 p.m.
At CVS on Main Street, $108.07 was charged and at Dunkin Donuts next door, a purchase of $2.52 was made. There were also attempts that did not work at the same CVS at 8:27 p.m. and at 9 p.m. at Walgreen’s in Lowell.
An officer went to both businesses, observed video and was able to locate a suspect using the card at those approximate times. The man appeared to be a Hispanic male in his late teens or early twenties.
