OMGPD: Drink-n-Plow, a Lottery Scam, the Blizzard Jogger & More Police Oddities

Don't Drink and Plow

The Wayland Police Department received a call the night of Feb. 8 about an erratic snowplow operator in the area of Maple Street. Police responded to the scene and observed John Wright, 49, of Natick fail to stop for a red light and nearly back his plow into the officer. Police say that Wright was intoxicated and had an open bottle of vodka in the plow with him. He was arrested and charged with OUI liquor, driving to endanger, a red light violation and driving with an open container. http://patch.com/A-1TVM

A caller from the Marriott Hotel in Burlington reported a male urinating in the lobby. Male party was sent to his room with a sober friend. Hotel to add cleaning charges to customer's bill: http://patch.com/A-1SmY

 

I've Got This Nigerian Cousin With a Great Bank Business Idea

Needham Police took a report of a fraudulent lottery, when a Gay Street resident reported that s/he had sent $2,200 to a lottery as a "processing fee" for a $10 million prize. Police advised the person to put a fraud alert on the card and tell financial institutions about it. Police are investigating: http://patch.com/A-1Hg2


Who's On First?

Still in Needham, a Highland Avenue business was reportedly the scene of a hit-and-run, which Needham police later determined was not actually a scene. Police say both parties were just confused about the location of the other. Both were identified and told to contact their insurance companies: http://patch.com/A-1Hg2


You and Your Self-Created Hazards

A jogger was reported running in the middle of the blizzard on Concord Road in Sudbury at about 8 p.m. The jogger was located on Morse Road and was advised about the hazard he was creating for himself: http://patch.com/A-1PG7

 

No Wonder It Didn't Smell

A call came in reporting a large, dead animal near the front door of a Waltham Street residence. The object in question turned out to be a rock, the Lexington police report said.

 

Hey, Use Your Own Dumpster!

A Pershing Road resident reported to Needham Police someone disposed of construction materials in the dumpster on her property. It was reported at 8:30 a.m., although the resident believes it may have occurred overnight: http://patch.com/A-1XT1
