Over 1,000 Impacted by Monday Power Outage

By late Monday morning, about five percent of NStar's Woburn customers were without power.

Updated at 1:41 p.m.: As of Monday afternoon, the outage has been corrected according to the NStar outage map.

The map indicated at about 2 p.m. that there were just two customers in Woburn who were without power.

Original Story: A significant power outage impacted over 1,000 Woburn customers late Monday morning.

Woburn Police tweeted at about 10 a.m. that a power outage was impacting the area of Montvale Ave. from Central Street to the Stoneham town line. Police urged drivers to use caution at intersections with the outage also impacting traffic lights.

According to the NStar website, as of about 11 a.m., there were 1,024 customers in the dark, about five percent of the company's 20,128 customers served.

Police said the outage was likely caused by a blown transformer, and added that crews were working at the scene of the outage. Some customers have already had service restored.
