Pedestrian Critical After Sunday Accident

A 40-year-old Salem Street man is at Lahey Clinic this morning after being.

The man is in critical condition Monday, according to a Lahey Clinic spokesperson.

A 25-year-old Woburn woman told she was driving on Salem Street toward Beach when she struck the pedestrian in the crosswalk. Police said the woman told officers “she did not see him crossing the street at any time.”

According to police, officers examined the driver for signs of impairment and found none. With the woman’s permission, police also checked the woman’s cell phone and found no recent activity.

Members of the Woburn Police traffic bureau are investigating and reconstructing the accident. One witness told police that he saw the pedestrian “go up and over the vehicle” after the crash.
