Pole Snaps, Knocking Power Out Near Woburn Mall

Close to 200 customers were without power on Monday morning.

NSTAR is working in the area of Woburn Mall on Monday morning to restore power after an outage was caused be a broken pole in the area.

As of about 10 a.m. on Monday, there are 169 customers without power, according to a an outage map on the NSTAR website. 

Reports indicate that the issues started when a pole snapped and caught fire. According to photos provided by Woburn Patch Facebook follower Doreen Pelletier, the pole in front of Sunoco caught fire after it broke near the top.

Police and firefighters were on scene, and power was shut down to the area, according to reports. There were some stormy conditions Monday morning, but there are no indications yet if that is what caused the pole to break.
