Featured Incident

On Friday, Dec. 20, officers were called to Kimball Court for a report of a youth breaking into vehicles. Dispatch informed responding officers that the caller had caught the youth in his car but he fled.

Units arrived and began searching the area for the suspect, and caught up with two youths. One met the caller's description.

The two teenagers told police that they had just walked outside from visiting a friend when they encountered the police officers.

According to the calling party, he had seen the youth in a red hooded sweatshirt attempting to open several car doors until he arrived at the caller's truck and got in. At that point, the resident confronted the suspect, asked him what he was doing in his vehicle, and the suspect ran.

Police asked the two teenagers they had located to empty their pockets. When doing so, one emptied a lighter and a small bag which appeared to be marijuana.

The reporting party said several times that he did not want the suspect to go to jail over "something stupid."

Both teenagers were questioned by police and admitted that they were in the area to buy marijuana from a resident of one of the apartments, but said they had not entered any vehicles.

They said they had seen another man in the area who is known to police as a thief and associate of the person who was selling the teenagers drugs. The two teenagers added that the was also wearing a red sweatshirt like described by the caller.

Officers transported both teenagers to their homes and police spoke to their parents.
