POLICE LOG: 15 Cars' Tires Slashed Saturday

An excerpt from the WPD police log. The following arrest information was supplied by the Woburn Police Department. The arrest does not indicate a conviction.

 

The following is an excerpt from the  log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

Aug. 12 – At 1:34 a.m., police responded to Rumford Park Avenue for a report of 10 vehicles’ tires being slashed. According to police, there was a party at the residence and when people left, they found their tires had been cut.

At 7:01 a.m., a Jefferson Avenue business reported five vehicles with slashed tires.

Aug. 10 –

At 9:18 a.m., police responded to Woburn Gas for a report of a disagreement between an employee and a customer. According to police, the customer reported he dropped off his vehicle and while it was at Woburn Gas, it was driven through the Sumner Tunnel and did not pay the toll. The Woburn Gas employee said he did not know who would have taken the vehicle and will contact the Mass Department of Transportation for a photo of the driver.

At 10:41 a.m., a Briarwood Road resident reported her car egged overnight. According to police, the woman said she heard loud yelling shortly after midnight. In the morning, she saw that the car had been hit by at least two eggs.

At 10:51 a.m., police were dispatched to a two-car accident on Montvale Avenue. According to police, the cars touched while both were turning onto Washington Street. There were no reported injuries.

At 11:19 a.m., a Woburn man reported he was wrongfully fired from his job because of his Hispanic heritage. According to police, the man said he was fired and not paid completely for his time. The man told police his boss had made disparaging remarks about his race in the past. Police advised the man to pursue the matter in civil court.

At 11:49 a.m., a Lexington Street man reported finding an “electronic wire testing device” near his closet. According to police, the item was near the closet, where the Verizon phone and cable connections to the apartment are found. The man told police he asked the building manager if anyone had been in his apartment and was told no.

At 12:02 p.m., police responded to a two-car crash at the Route 128/38 rotary. According to police, one car rear-ended another. There was no damage to one car and a minor scratch on the other.

At 1 p.m., a Woburn woman reported her keys stolen while she was at the Stop and Shop on Elm Street. According to police, the woman gave the keys to the cashier to swipe her rewards card. The cashier put the keys on the counter and a man picked them up. Video surveillance of the theft was available.

At 2:03 p.m., a Middle Street man reported a sealed envelope stolen from his unlocked vehicle while it was parked on Carlena Terrace.

At 3:48 p.m., a Woburn business employee reported the company credit card information was stolen and used fraudulently several times since June. The charges total approximately $12,000, said police.

At 5:34 p.m., a Woburn woman reported someone fraudulently used her credit card.

At 5:56 p.m., a Briarwood Road resident reported finding a queen-sized box spring and mattress on his front lawn. The items left an impression on the lawn, said police.

At 6:03 p.m., a Lexington woman reported a vehicle crossed the double-yellow line on Lexington Street, struck her mirror and kept driving.

At 6:45 p.m., police were called to a Mishawum Road home for a report of a disturbance. According to police, a woman was arguing with a man over whether she could pick up some of her belongings. Police spoke to both parties and agreed that it would be best to try to pick up the items another day.

At 8 p.m., a Wilmington woman was driving on Main Street when her car struck a broken drain cover, causing her tire to flatten. The Department of Public Works was notified; police left a traffic cone over the broken drain.

At 10:02 p.m., police responded to Mishawum and Ryan roads for a report of a two-car accident. According to police, one car was broken down and had its hazard lights on. The other car did not realize the car was stopped and was not able to brake in time. There were no reported injuries.  

Aug. 11 –

At 12:23 p.m., police were called to a High Street residence for a report of a break-in. According to police, several bureaus were opened and the contents rifled through. A box of old comic books were stolen, but nothing else, said police.

At 2:28 p.m., a Spring Court Extension resident reported her car damaged. According to police, the woman said her mechanic told her a fuse to the car’s fuel injector was intentionally broken.

At 7:20 p.m., police responded to Salem Street for a report of a problem between neighbors. According to police, one neighbor complained about kids playing basketball in an adjoining driveway and the other neighbor threw a Nerf football at her property. Police advised the adults to stay away from each other.

At 6:28 p.m., a 22-year-old Woburn man was summonsed to Woburn District Court for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. According to police, an officer observed the man driving during routine traffic patrol.

At 7:51 p.m., a 32-year-old Medford man was summonsed to Woburn District Court for larceny over $250. According to police, the man had been identifying himself as an employee of a Woburn business, signing contracts with prospective clients and cashing checks.   

Aug. 12 –

At 5:23 p.m., a Woburn man reported someone fraudulently used his debit card to withdraw money from his bank account without his permission.

At 7:05 p.m., police responded to Applebee’s for a report of a couple that did not pay their bill. According to police, employees were able to get a license plate number for the couple’s vehicles. Police tracked down both parties, who agreed to pay the bill.

At 9:48 p.m., police were called to a domestic dispute on Lake Avenue. According to police, one man decided to leave the apartment for the night. The woman told police she was preparing to move out.
