Police Log: Craigslist Scam Steals $2,250 From Woburn Woman

An excerpt from the WPD police log. The following arrest information was supplied by the Woburn Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, March 10

At 12:34 p.m., a Woburn woman reported fraud. She found a job on craigslist in which she was given a check of $2,250 from Granite Credit Union with the agreement that she would keep $400 and use the rest of it to purchase money packs and send them to California. The Woburn resident asked her aunt to help her cash the check. She thought the check cleared and she purchased the money packs and sent them to California. She later found out the check was fake and her aunt’s account was charged the $2,250. Police took a report.

At 1:13 p.m., police arrested Gualter DaSilva, 75, 14 Linden St., Woburn, and charged him with domestic assault and battery.

At 2:07 p.m., a Newton resident reported that someone took her Louis Vuitton clutch when she left it unattended at Lazercraze. The bag was valued at $1,100. Four hundred dollars, a gift card, credit cards and her license were in the bag.
