POLICE LOG: Forklift Likely Used to Steal Plow

The following is an excerpt from the Woburn Police Department log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

Dec. 15 – At 10:24 a.m., a New Boston Street business reported a stolen snow plow. According to police, the plow was placed in a fenced lot with a small opening. Police observed tire marks that suggest a forklift may have been used to steal the plow.

Dec. 14  –

At 7:45 a.m., police responded to a report of a two-car accident on Montvale Avenue. According to police, a truck hit a car, but did not stop to exchange paperwork. There was damage on the front left fender and bumper, said police.

At 1:00 p.m., police were called to Lowell and Wyman streets for a two-car accident. According to police, a driver looked down to answer his cell phone and could not avoid the collision, although he did swerve the vehicle. One of the cars struck a parked car, pushing that vehicle into a tree. The driver was issued a citation for a marked lanes violation, failure to stop at a stop sign and impeded operation of a motor vehicle.

At 1:32 p.m., a Wilmington man came to the station to drop off a camera he found on Breed Avenue. According to police, the man said he was walking when he found the camera discarded on the ground, along with a battery pack, a zoom lens and a camera case. Police have the camera at the station.

At 4:18 p.m., a Squanto Road woman reported her property damaged by NStar. According to police, the electric company has an easement that allows access to large power-line poles that are in the resident’s yard. The woman told police that part of her fence was removed and dirt was dug in the backyard. The woman told police that the utility company promised to fix those items, but left without doing so. Police documented the officer’s observations at the property and advised the woman to contact NStar.

At 5:18 p.m., police responded to Salem and Cedar streets for a two-car accident.

At 6:38 p.m., police responded to the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Middlesex Canal Parkway for a report of a missing person and vehicle. According to police, a woman allowed an acquaintance to use her car. The woman told police she was concerned for the other woman’s well-being and that she had not heard from her for two hours. While police were at the hotel, the woman contacted the car owner and said that she was in the area but did not want to approach police. Officers found the car, parked at the hotel property with no driver. Later, police returned to the hotel and were told that the woman had left the car keys for the owner, but had left the area.             

Dec. 15 –

At 10:03 a.m., a Main Street resident reported his car damaged during the last week. According to police, the damage may have been caused by an oil delivery truck.

At 1:35 p.m., a Lowell man reported his parked car damaged while in a Normac Road parking lot.

At 3:44 p.m., a Woburn man reported an unknown person set up a fraudulent online account linked to his bank account. Through the fraudulent account, the person was able to withdraw several thousand dollars.  

Dec. 16 –

At 11:55 a.m., police responded to a two-car accident at Washington Street and Mishawum Road. According to police, one driver was cited for failure to yield to the right-of-way.

At 12:05 p.m., a Dragon Court woman reported her car vandalized overnight. According to police, white paint was poured over the top and rear of the vehicle and screws were punched into her tires. Officers also observed fresh scratches.

At 3:24 p.m., police were called to a two-car accident on Montvale Avenue near Dunkin Donuts. According to police, no one was injured.

At 4:29 p.m., police responded to Sylvan Road for a single-car crash. According to police, one car slid on snow and veered off the road, into a large rock on Dickie Road. There were no injuries or property damage.

At 5:08 p.m., police were called to Commerce Way for a report of a car crash. According to police, one car slid on the snow and rain, causing the collision.

At 5:37 p.m., police responded to Mishawum Road after a single-car crash. According to police, the driver lost control of her vehicle due to snowy and icy conditions. The car struck a tree, uprooting it. The woman told police she was uninjured. The officer followed the woman home to ensure her safety.

At 6:14 p.m., police responded to Family Dollar on Main Street for a report of shoplifting. According to police, a customer attempted to steal a bottle of Advil valued at $4.25. Police returned the bottle to the store owner and escorted the customer out of the building.  

Dec. 17 –

At 4:17 a.m., a driver struck a fire hydrant on North Maple Street due to icy road conditions. There were no reported injuries.
