POLICE LOG: Wet Roads Blamed for 2 of 4 Accidents

October 5, 2012

Featured Call of the Day:

Oct. 4 – At 4:53 p.m., the driver of a vehicle headed east on Pleasant Street said she lost control of her car because the road was wet and hit a parked car, pushing it into a third car. An officer in the area heard the crash. When he arrived, the first car was sideways and blocking the eastbound lane of traffic on Pleasant Street. It had a broken front passenger axle. The driver told police she was not injured but the officer called for medical assistance because the woman had an infant in the rear seat of her vehicle. The Woburn Fire Department transported both the woman and infant. Police cited the woman for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. The first and second vehicles were towed.  A witness said the first vehicle swerved to miss hitting a truck coming out of Bennett Street.

Other Incidents:

Oct. 4 –

At 9:06 a.m., the driver of a car pulling away from the curb  near 675 Main St.  hit a vehicle heading north on Main Street. The driver moving out into traffic said he did not see the other vehicle.

At 12:01 p.m., a shopper at Target reported that his car had been damaged in the store’s parking lot.  The driver who parked next to him apparently hit his car’s left rear fender and bumper.

At 12:08 p.m., a Green Street resident reported that two tires on his pickup truck had been slashed the previous night. The resident said he heard noise outside around 11 p.m. the previous evening and saw three males get into a Black Ford Expedition and drive away. He did not see the men at his truck but feels they were involved in the incident.

At 3:48 p.m., a vehicle traveling west on School Street hit the vehicle in front of it as the first vehicle slowed to turn onto Forest Park Road. The driver of the second car said he was unable to stop and believes his car slid on the wet road.

At 7:32 p.m., a driver northbound on Main Street struck a parked car with the driver inside.
