POLICE LOG: Home Break-In With Handgun and $10k in Jewelry Stolen

The following is an excerpt from the Woburn Police Department log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

Feb. 20-

At 11:35 p.m. police responded to a Parker Street residence for a report of a breaking and entering.

The homeowners said that they returned home to find evidence that their home had been broken-into. A back sliding door had been forced open and lights were on that were not on when they left that morning.

Among the missing items were a bottle of Oxycodone, a Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol, a home safe, an array of jewelry (approximately $10,000 in value), cash and saving bonds. There was also damage to the sliding door and a floor tile, where it appeared the thief dropped the safe.

Total value of items stolen was approximately $11,700.

Police also found a large kitchen knife that had been in the kitchen in the master bedroom, leaving police to believe the thief armed himself before checking the bedrooms.

Other Incidents

Feb. 20-

At 1:24 p.m. police arrested Robin Hilbert, 24, of 7 LeBlanc Road, Apartment B, Pelham, NH, on a charge of shoplifting $100+ by asportation. Police also arrested Tarah Hilbert, 21, of 7 LeBlanc Road, Apartment B, Pelham, NH on a charge of shoplifting $100+ by asportation. The Arrest was made after Target loss prevention reported detaining two female shoplifters who had tried to leave the store with over $230 worth of baby formula.

At 9:56 p.m. police arrested Anthony Nazzaro Scarpa, 27, of 40 Elm St., Wakefield on a warrant.

Feb. 21-

At 9:20 a.m. police responded to Baldwin Ave for a report of vandalism to property. The homeowner showed police the side of her house that had been struck several times by eggs. All the damage was around her daughter’s bedroom window.

The homeowner said she heard a loud bang at approximately 11 p.m. the night before and that her daughter had returned home shortly before that after being out with friends. Police spoke with the daughter who said it may have been her friend’s boyfriend.

At 9:21 a.m. police responded to Planet Fitness for a call of harassment. An employee said a man who was a member had not paid several months of dues and had violated club policies. When she asked him to leave he complied but not before making disparaging remarks about her. He also called after he left and spoke to the same employee and made further disparaging and inappropriate comments.

Police advised her that if he returns to call 911.
