POLICE LOG: Home Break-In With Multiple Items Stolen, Report of 'Scam' at Kings Gas

The following is an excerpt from the Woburn Police Department log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

Feb. 22-

At 5:38 p.m. police to a Washington Street residence for a report of a larceny. Caller stated that when he returned home from work he noticed items were missing, including a Wii gaming console, Wii games, a Sony handheld console and video games for that device. Caller stated he always locks the door and is the only one with a key. Police checked the residence and found no signs of forced entry.

The caller stated he suspected the downstairs tenants who he has had issues with regarding rent payments. Police spoke to them and they denied having anything to do with it or of having seen or heard anything unusual.

Other Incidents

Feb. 22

At 11:48 a.m. police responded to Kings Gas at 146 Main Street for a caller who stated they were “scammed” out of money. Caller stated that when she arrived she had three-fourths of a tank and told the attendant “fill it up” and was charged $26. When she restarted the vehicle the gas gauge did not move. She pulled back in and told him to “fill it up” and was charged $20. At this point the gauge read full.

 The attendant said he had no idea what happened except that maybe the caller’s gas gauge was not working properly.

Feb. 23

At 4:24 a.m. police responded to the BP Gas Station at 325 Washington St. for an entry door alarm. Police observed a glass door had been smashed out and cleared the building.

Police viewed surveillance tape. The suspect is described as a white male, wearing light colored pants, a dark hooded sweatshirt and gloves. The suspect was seen picking up a heavy fuel cap and using it to smash the glass door. The suspect ran inside and behind the counter. The storeowner stated he didn’t think anything other than a pack of cigarettes was stolen.

At 11:09 a.m. police responded to a Lexington Street apartment on a call of an unidentified person in an apartment called the tenant’s mother from the tenant’s phone. Police observed the lock on the door had been broken. When the tenant arrived he said he didn’t believe anything had been stolen.

At 7:43 p.m. a party came to the station to report harassment. The owner of a Flagg Street apartment said that a tenant facing eviction had been making threats via Facebook and voicemail to do damage to the property. Tenant also allegedly said she will “get you” to the landlord.

At 7:57 p.m. police responded to a Elm Street residence on a report of a family receiving a threating letter. According to the caller they received a letter from a cousin who is currently incarcerated but is set to be released in May. The callers stated the letter was addressed to the wife of the family with threats made to the husband and her father over past family disagreements. Police contacted the Billerica House of correction and the shift commander said the Sherriff’s Department would pick up the letter and determine if any further action is necessary.

Feb. 24

At 3:44 p.m. police responded to a Chestnut Street residence on a report of an unwanted visitor. Caller stated her father came to visit from California even though she told him he was not welcome and was being persistent. Police spoke with the father and informed him he was unwelcome. Police also advised the daughter and her roommate of their rights under the Harassment Victim’s Rights law.

At 10:33 p.m. a Mishawum Road caller stated his vehicle was damaged in a hit and run accident while it was parked and he was at work. Caller reported damage to the rear passenger side of the vehicle.
