Police Log: Lexington Woman Charged With Shoplifting

Monday, April 14

At 8:09 a.m., a School Street resident called police after a vehicle was damaged. Someone had spray-painted words on the side of the vehicle about the woman’s boyfriend. The couple said they been receiving texts from prepaid cell phones since they began dating. The texts asked them to stop dating. She believes the texts are coming from an ex-boyfriend. Police advised her to seek a restraining order against the woman’s ex-boyfriend.

At 10:54 a.m., police responded to the YMCA after a driver struck an embankment. She said she was in a parking post when the gas pedal got stuck and she drove it up the embankment. There was minor damage and the woman was not injured. Police had the car towed.

At 11:31 a.m., police arrested Jackqueline Marie Saunders, 27, 14 Sunny Knoll Terrace, Lexington and charged her with shoplifting more than $100 by concealing merchandise. Police responded to Kohl’s about a woman shoplifting. Police approached the woman, who denied taking any items and told police to search her purse. Police looked at the security video and saw that Saunders removed a Polaroid Tablet from a shelf, took the security device from the box and removed the tablet from the box. She reportedly concealed the tablet in the waistband of her yoga pants and covered it with a sweatshirt. Police also discovered pliers in her pocketbook. Police found that Saunders has multiple open court cases and was summonsed for a shoplifting at Target the previous night. Police made the arrest.
