POLICE LOG: Lowell Woman Arrested for Prostitution

The following is an excerpt from the  log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

March 14 –

• At 9:29 a.m., Edward K. Hughes, 30, of 12 Hilltop Terrace, was arrested and charged on an outstanding warrant. Hughes was arrested after police responded to a report of an alarm going off at a Main Street building. According to police, the alarm was inadvertently set off by an employee, and the sergeant saw Hughes walking by, but walking quickly away from him. The sergeant discovered a warrant out for Hughes’ arrest and arrested him on Main Street.
• At 3:31 p.m., a Woburn woman was summonsed to for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle after a routine patrol stop at Main and Church streets. Another woman in the car was also summonsed for allowing improper operation of a motor vehicle, as well as a brake violation.
• At 3:55 p.m., police were called to a Sullivan Street business for a past larceny. According to a witness statement, a van drove up to the business on Sunday and loaded eight 50-gallon drums filled with scrap metal and steel bars into the van.
• At 6:23 p.m., a Woburn man was summonsed to Woburn District Court for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration and operating an uninsured vehicle. The man said he had received notification that he owed money, but didn’t realize he couldn’t drive his car. The car was towed from the scene.
• At 6:29 p.m., police and fire responded to a medical aid on Linscott Road.
• At 11:18 p.m., Shawnta Green, 32, of 104 S. Whipple of Lowell, was arrested and charged with sexual conduct for a fee. Green was arrested at the Red Roof Inn.

March 15 –

• At 5:01 a.m., Jonathan Whitcomb, 18, homeless, was arrested and charged with breaking and entering into a boat/vehicle for a misdemeanor. According to police, an Eagle Road family called police when they were alerted to an unwanted party on the property by their dogs’ barking. Whitcomb told police he had permission to sleep in the car on the property, but was told by the car’s owner that he did not have permission.
