POLICE LOG: Meatloaf Dinner Interrupted; Arrest Follows

The following is an excerpt from the Woburn Police Department log. Please note that this is a sampling of activity in the log, not a complete account. We report all arrests included in the daily police log.

Oct. 23 – At 6:05 p.m., Patrick Kelley Brogna, 51, of 49 Creston Ave., was arrested and charged with assault and battery. According to police, officers responded to a report of a man hitting someone inside the house repeatedly. When officers arrived, the victim told police an argument started over a broken bottle of laundry detergent. Brogna told police he couldn’t remember why he argued with the victim, but that he was trying to eat his meatloaf dinner when the fight started. A witness told police he heard the argument and called 911.

Oct. 23 –

At 9:10 a.m., an Elijiah Street woman reported her unlocked car was entered and a GPS was stolen overnight. Several other items were displaced in the car, said police.

At 9:16 a.m., police responded to a two-car accident at Lake Avenue and Arlington Road. According to police, one car failed to yield and rear-ended another vehicle.

At 9:53 a.m., an Elijiah Street woman reported her unlocked car was entered and a GPS unit was stolen. There was no damage to the vehicle, said police.

At 2:11 p.m., police responded to a Main Street apartment for a report of threats made. According to police, the suspect denied making any threats toward the caller. Witnesses in the area said no threats were made, but the two men did argue vehemently.

At 3:14 p.m., a Kilby Street man reported his unlocked car was entered and some CDs and family photos were stolen.

At 6:04 p.m., police responded to a report of a domestic dispute on Floyd Street. Police spoke to all parties involved, who said the argument was verbal only. A couple left the residence without incident, said police.

At 6:30 p.m., a Sports Authority employee reported seeing a man walking around the store with a large leather bag full of merchandise. When the employee spoke to the man, the man began avoiding him. Police reported the man then emptied the bag in the store and left. According to police, several North Face jackets and other items were left in the store and the suspect had removed the security tags. Police are investigating video surveillance footage of the incident.

At 7:51 p.m., police responded to a two-car accident on Commerce Way at Atlantic Avenue. According to police, one driver admitted to running the red light, causing the crash. That driver was cited by police.
