Police Log: Officers Track Down a Man Who Overdosed on Heroin

Thursday, May 15

At 9:44 a.m., police responded to Main Street after a one-car accident. A motorist was backing out of a parking spot when she struck a concrete light pole foundation, which caused her to panic and put the car in drive and accelerate forward, striking a parked car. She continued to accelerate and jumped a curb and island before coming to a stop on another curb. There were no injuries. Both cars were towed.

At 4:30 p.m., police responded to the Williams Road/Mountain Road area after the Fire Department called about a 21-year-old Woburn man’s well being. The Fire Department had received a call that a person overdosed on heroin behind the North Woburn Fire Station. Firefighters approached the man, who had just shot up heroin and was not doing well. They put him on a stretcher, but he jumped off and ran away. Police searched a wooded area near Mountain Road and found the man lying in woods. Police found the man, who was nodding off, had pinpoint pupils and bluish lips. Police found a needle on him. He was taken to Lahey Clinic.

At 6:57 p.m., while on patrol on Union Street, an officer spotted two women arguing. He separated the women and spoke to each of them. One of the women said she didn’t like how the woman treats her children and dog. She said the house is messy. Police spoke to the other woman who allowed police into her house. The officer saw the house was messy and a dog and cat were inside with feces and urine on a mat near the kitchen door. Police notified the woman of the complaint and she acknowledged there was a Department of Children and Families case involving her, but it was closed years ago. Police told her that they would notify DCF about the incident.
